Finn's birthday party continued the next weekend in Chicago. Gigi and Papa came out on Thursday to watch the kids as Rosa needed the afternoon off. That night, Papa, Dad and Jon Papajcik enjoyed an early Father's Day gift by seeing the Indians play the White Sox. Unfortunately, the Tribe got crushed, but I think the 3 or so beers they each had helped them drown their sorrows a bit. Friday night we kicked off the weekend festivities by watching Toy Story 2. This was Finn's first introduction to Woody and Buzz Lightyear and he LOVED it. The next day was Finn's party. Fourteen of Finn's friends came to Explore and Much More to help us celebrate. The kids all had a blast. The bounce house was one of the biggest hits, but the kids also loved playing in the store, dressing up, playing in the kitchen and just running around like crazy. After all that activity, we were ready for some yummy Lou Malnati's pizza and Cars cake. But the party wasn't over just yet. We topped things off with a balloon drop and the kids spent the last fifteen minutes cracking themselves up by playing with their balloons. And as if all that wasn't enough, Finn got some great presents too! It was quite the birthday. One I'm not sure we're going to be able to top!
The day started out with Finn and Gigi showing off their green thumbs.
Lou was on hand for moral support.
In his special birthday shirt and ready to party!
Finn's buddy Matthew's parents were out of town that weekend, but his uncle was nice enough to bring him to the party even though he didn't have any kids of his own or know anyone there! It was the best gift Finn could have gotten since Finn and Matthew have been best buddies since they were only a couple months old!
Gunnar and Finn selling vegetables to Papa.
Claire and Mae Mae playing dress up.
Boys playing with the train table and ball tubes.
Rosa kept Lourdes and Sabine occupied in the baby area for most of the party.
This was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted! And it looked sweet too!
Balloon Drop!
Finn opening his fishing pole from Gigi and Papa.
Sweet build-a-road from Hasan and Zain.
These cars are awesome as all the parts are interchangeable.
Finn picked out this backpack all by himself for preschool this fall.
Woody and Buzz!
And we weren't quite finished yet. Before Gigi and Papa left on Sunday, Finn, myself and his grandparents went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Children's Theater. It was such a great weekend!
