Finn's First Cereal Dinner

Finn has been REALLY hungry the last couple of nights. So, with our pediatrician's blessing, we decided to try giving him cereal tonight. I've posted the before and after picture along with a video of his first bite. Enjoy!

Finn's Four Months Old!

I can't believe it, but Finn is already 4 months old and he's getting big. At his check-up last week he measured 25.25 inches (50th percentile) and weighed 13 lbs and 8 ozs (25th percentile). He can already roll front to back and I think he will be an ambi-roller in just a week or so more. He is laughing more now and is starting to really enjoy playing with his toys. He's also doing great with head and back control, so we've started sitting him in his bumbo seat a few times a day. Look how cute he looks in it...

Grandma and Grandpa Kline Come For a Visit

Last weekend Grandma (who came in on Thursday night) and Grandpa Kline (who joined us on Friday night) came for a visit. It was a lot of fun. On Friday, Grandma, Finn and I went down and had lunch with dad. Then we took a walk down Michigan Ave. Saturday after we had a yummy diner breakfast, Grandma and Grandpa bought some cute 3-6 month fall clothes for our little man at Baby Gap. Then we all took a walk along the lake where we took this picture. That night Finn hung out with his grandparents so that mom and dad could go to a wedding at the Sears Tower. (Congrats again Alexis and Sam!) They did a great job and let him stay up and watch some football! Come back and visit real soon!

Our Angel Kitty

Our 15 year old Mr. Kitty had a procedure done on her bladder a week or so ago. I felt so bad for her when Joe went to pick her up from the vet after she was done recovering. That sadness was lightened greatly when Mr. Kitty walked into our apartment like this....

She had to wear a halo for 10 days after the procedure and it provided much amusement to Joe and I. Mr. Kitty, on the other hand, was less than pleased. Don't feel too bad for her though, the 10 days was over yesterday and she is back to her normal malcontent self sans headgear.

Michelle and Greg come to Chicago

Michelle and Greg came to Chicago this past weekend and we had SO many fun outdoor plans. We were going to walk around Jackson Park, the site of the World's Fair. We were going to walk around my neighborhood, take a walk to the Lake, and maybe even cruise around the zoo. Unfortunately, mother nature had different plans. It rained in Chicago more this weekend than any other weekend in recent history, thanks to Ike. So we did a LOT of indoor activities. We ordered pizza in on Friday night. We went to the Museum of Art on Saturday and then spent that evening watching football at a nearby Mexican restaurant. And then Sunday we hit up the Shedd Aquarium. Mr. Finn liked this activity the best as he was really interested in the fish swimming by. All in all it was a great weekend catching up, but they need to come back soon when the weather cooperates so they can really check out Chicago.

Finn chillin' with his aunt:

There was a break in the rain long enough for us to get a picture in front of the Shedd. Finn, though, had enough at this point and was taking a little nap.

Trip to NYC

Joe, Finnegan and I hopped a plane to NYC this past weekend. We spent Friday catching up with friends. Saturday we attended Rajni's, my college suitemates, wedding. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was a lot of fun. And big kudos to her and Eli for taking tropical storm Hanna in stride even though it required them to switch venues at the last minute. You would've never known it because everything went so smoothly! And Sunday we had a yummy brunch with our high school English teacher before heading back to Chi-town. We should have taken a lot more pictures of all the people we saw while we were there, but both of us were too busy talking to remember. So here are the pictures we managed to snap.

Navy Pier

The museum is at Navy Pier so, after grabbing some lunch at the food court, we headed out to ride some rides. Here's Xavier riding the Leaping Lighthouse.

Then all of us, including baby Finn, rode the Ferris Wheel.
Molly was a bit nervous during the ride, but Izzy was digging it.
I think even Molly would agree that the view from the top was awesome.

Children's Museum

We began our Saturday by checking out the Children's Museum. Here's Finn playing in the baby area.

Lyle helped Xavier build a house.

Molly, Lyle, Xavier and Isabelle Come To Visit

On Thursday, Molly, Xavier and Isabelle arrived for a weekend of fun in Chicago. (Lyle flew in Friday afternoon). Friday morning we hit up the Lincoln Park Zoo. The kids got a little lesson about the rules of the wild from the Brown Bear. We had searched for this bear for about a half hour. We finally find the cage, and the bear is nowhere to be seen. Xavier was very bummed. Well right before we were about to give up, the bear appeared right in front of the kids. Xavier was psyched. That is until the bear picked up a little birdie, put it on the ground, stomped on it, and then ate it right in front of 3 or 4 children. He then turned away and peed down his leg as he was leaving. Another parent summed up what we were all thinking when she said, "oh no he didn't". It reminded me of that scene from Napoleon Dynamite when the farmer shoots the cow as a bus full of school children drive by screaming. Too funny!

Here's Xavier taking a train ride.

There was a climbing area at the zoo recommended for kids ages 4 through 8. But Xavier, two and a half, tore that thing up.

Even little Izzy did a bit of climbing.
