We had a really fun Easter weekend here in Chicago. When Gigi and Papa arrived on Friday, they immediately took Finn to an Easter egg hunt at Little Beans cafe. While Finn wasn't sold on the idea of getting his picture taken with the Bunny, he had fun finding eggs and riding on the cool Thomas the Train pictured below.
Then on Saturday after soccer and Gymboree, we boiled almost 2 dozen eggs to dye. I almost screwed things up royally by buying and boiling brown eggs rather than white. It completely escaped me that it is easier to dye a white egg since we always eat and have on hand brown eggs. Thankfully, they worked out just fine. You just had to leave them in the dye about 5 minutes longer. Finn didn't mind. He just put eggs in every cup and once one was done and taken out, he'd plop another egg in the dye. He colored some great eggs for his basket. And since LouLou and Bean were napping during the egg coloring festivities, he dyed enough for their baskets too.
Finn took his coloring seriously!

But he still managed to crack Gigi up!

Some nice looking eggs if I do say so myself! We tried to achieve a marble effect by putting vegetable oil in some of the dyes and it came out really cool.
Sabine and Lourdes' baskets ready to be filled by the Bunny.
After coloring eggs, Finn and I did an art project where we made an Easter Bunny hat all decked out with ears, glasses and teeth. He was a little wary of it at first, so everyone tried it on to show him it wasn't scary, just funny looking!

Finally, Finn was convinced that the hat was okay after all and modeled it along with his Easter basket.

While Lourdes and Sabine didn't participate in much of the Easter preparations, they looked cute as little buttons and were happy playing with their Sophie giraffes.

Overnight, the Bunny came and filled the kids baskets with all sorts of goodies.
He even hid eggs around the house for a fun hunt!

Finn discovering that all of the eggs were filled with stickers and race cars!

And in his basket, he got a couple of books, Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, Memory and a fire truck puzzle from the Bunny! He also got a puzzle from Gigi and Papa and another cool book from Grandma! Score!

Sabine wasn't sure what to make of this Easter business, but she got a book and a 3 little pigs play set from the Easter Bunny along with a cute outfit from Gigi and Papa and a good book from Grandma.

Lou was a bit more excited about opening her locks board and squish toy from the Bunny and outfit from Gigi and Papa and book from Grandma.

Poor girls! Finn immediately took the 3 little pigs from Beanie to play with Papa.

After all that playing, the kids got cleaned up for Easter brunch. We ate at this great restaurant called the Firehouse, so called because it used to actually be a working firehouse. The food was SO good! None of us needed to eat much the rest of the day!

After brunch it was back to playing. Finn and Papa had a blast putting together his firetruck puzzle.
While Beanie played with her Squish.
Finny was CRACKING Gigi up during their intense game of Memory. Maybe it was his strategy to distract her.
