My Two Men

Finn's godfather Jon came over on Friday to visit and have some pizza and beer. When Finn and I got a bit tired, dad and Jon decided to have a couple more at a nearby bar and didn't get back until late. So after getting up at 8 to go to Gymboree the next morning, dad was just as ready for some shut-eye as Finn was. I had to snap a couple pictures of the two because they just looked too darned cute. The two loves of my life crashed out together for a nap.

Finny's Sweet Beach Vacation

Joe, Finny and I spent a week at Cape Hatteras with about 20 other members of the Manning family including 10 of Finny's cousins. As you can see below, we had a blast! Every morning we played on the beach, then we had lunch, took a nap, and then usually either headed back to the beach or played in the pool until dinner. Then more fun with cousins until bedtime. The first day Finn was a bit hesitant in the ocean and pool, but by day 2 he was all about letting the waves wash over his feet and he even splashed a bit in the pool with Zoe. His favorite activity though was playing in the sand with his bucket and shovel. Here as some highlights of the vacation.

Playing with daddy and Zia in the sand.

Finn had the cutest hat to keep his little bald head from getting sunburnt.

Getting his feet wet in the ocean.

More fun in the water with mom and Zander. And in this picture you can see the house we were staying at - it is the farthest one on the left.

Finn helped his cousins build some sweet sand castles over the week we were there. Zoe here is modeling the finished product.

All of the cousins getting their picture taken - and yes Finny is screaming his head off in the very back.

The last day some of us went to the Breakwater Restaurant for dinner. When we were through, we took a family shot on their patio in front of a beautiful sunshot. Finny is showing everyone how big he is - "so big."

And here is a video dad took of Finny playing in the sand on our last day.

Finny's Week with Grandma and Grandpa Kline

Rosa has been away visiting her family in Ecuador. So Grandma and Grandpa Kline came out to stay for a week with Finn while we worked. They had a whirlwind of fun. They went to the park so that Finn could play in the water, to the Lincoln Park Zoo and to the Field Museum. Finny showed them how all his toys worked. And all that activity had him eating like a champ! Here are a few cute pictures of the three of them.

Finny seriously housed food for Grandma and Grandpa. I swear he gained at least a pound, which is exactly what he needs!

All week long every time Grandpa would put on his baseball hat, Finn would immediately take it off of him.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a wonderful Father's Day weekend with lots of friends and family in town to spend it with. On Saturday, Finny attended his first baseball game. We went with Monna, Jim, and family friend Pete to Wrigley Field to cheer on our team - the Cleveland Indians - take on the Cubbies. Finn did extremely well - even though the game went into extra innings and the Indians blew it in the bottom of the 13th. Bummer! He still had fun cheering the Indians on and singing Take Me Out To the Ball Game. Then Sunday we met up with the Magid family for a Father's Day brunch at Bistro 110, which specializes in New Orleans style food. They also had a blues band play for the brunch. Finny, dad and I danced along to When The Saints Go Marching In right before we left. It was awesome. Then we went to the Field Museum to check out their new Pirates exhibit with the Magid boys. Of course we had to take a picture with Sue. All in all it was a great weekend spent with the best daddy Finny could have ever hoped for. We love you, Joe!

Pasta!

Finny's not a big eater, hence the fact that he's only in the 5th percentile for weight. But yesterday he discovered the deliciousness that is pasta and "meatballs" (even if they were soy). As the pictures demonstrate, he went to TOWN! I literally couldn't fill his tray fast enough. Afterwards, I just stripped him down and put him directly into the bath. After first capturing it all on film for posterity, of course.
